Pastor David Huegel

Teaching Pastor

Teaching Pastor,  David Huegel

Pastor David comes to the Woodlands Christian Church by special engagement during 2019 and 2020, with a broad range of gifts, experiences, and insights to share from the pulpit and in Bible Study.  Although he was born in Houston, he grew up in Mexico where his parents, grandparents, and siblings have served as missionaries for 100 years.  He received his Bachelor's from Houston Baptist University and his Master's from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he was recognized for his expository preaching.  Although he is ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), he has served in many different ministry and denominational settings.  Pastor David has been married to Cecilia since 1986, and they are blessed with four sons.  In 2002 David founded Bible Olympics, and continues to lead multiple Bible competitions every year.

Rev. Michael Townsend

Minister of Pastoral Care

Our Associate Minister, Rev. Michael Townsend, is a commissioned minister with standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and on the Ordination Track under care of the Christian Church of the Southwest. He is currently an M.Div. student at Lexington Theological Seminary since May of 2015. Michael has been married to Karen since 1991. They have one daughter, Megan, who graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor's degree in vocal music education. Michael has a rather unique sense of humor. He might show up as Elvis, or wearing a Tu-Tu, or . . . both. Truth is, he’s the nuclear medicine supervisor at Houston Northwest Medical Center during the day and a real super-hero the rest of the time. He’s been a Girl Scout leader, plays bass and piano, sings beautifully, rings bells, and serves as Stephen Ministry Leader and prioritizes Pastoral Care over all other ministerial duties. More than anything else, though, Michael’s real gift is making people feel safe and at home.

The Rev. Kim Johnson is a commissioned minister with standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Kim is an elementary school teacher by day and our minister to young adults when she’s not at school.  Kim has served on the staff of Oaks Christian Church in Houston before coming to The Woodlands Christian Church.  She has been both the coordinator of young adults and the youth leadership convener for the Coastal Plains Area of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
