Christian Church calls Dr. John Callison as Senior Minister
John Callison is a fourth
generation Disciple who calls the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) home. He received his call to
ministry at 16 while at
a CYF Conference in
Louisiana. He earned his Bachelor of Business
Administration from TCU in 1980, a Master of Divinity degree
from Brite Divinity School at TCU in 1984, and a Doctor of
Ministry degree from The Theological School at Drew
University in 1993. John was ordained in the Christian
Church in the Southwest in 1984.
John has served Disciples
congregations in Bellaire, Burleson, Lubbock, La Porte, and
Pasadena, Texas and Eden, North Carolina. For the last ten
years he has served the Bluebonnet Area of the Christian
Church in the Southwest as Area Minister. He has served as
staff to the Regional Committee on Ministry during that time
and as a teacher in the Coastal Plains and Bluebonnet Area’s
licensed ministry program for about 15 years.
John and Laura have been
married for almost 27 years. She is a registered nurse with
both Mother-Baby and Critical Care certifications. She is
currently working in the Pediatric ICU at Christus Santa
Rosa Children’s hospital in San Antonio. John and Laura
have two sons. Jeremy is 22 and planning a move to Seattle,
Washington early in the summer. Jeff is a junior at TCU
majoring in Advertising and Public Relations.
The Callisons are campers,
and the men are scuba divers. John and Laura love to
travel.
